Full S.T.E.A.M. ahead to the Land of Fairytales! S.T.E.A.M. is the current acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. Using various fairytales as the base, campers will have fun exploring hands on “S.T.E.A.M.” activities to foster creative play, promote imagination, and develop problem solving skills. Activities will include building a new bed for Goldilocks and testing towers and bridges, and other STEAM projects to rescue fairytale characters; creating art projects and retelling stories through play; and finding solutions to “What if” questions to the fairytales we visit. All of this will be done in a fun, cooperative learning environment. Nancy Smith and Jeanne Foster, former 2nd grade teachers from Laguna Elementary at SUSD, are the Lead engineers/scientists/artists in this fun filled camp!
