INVENTION TINKERING: A S.T.E.M. APPROACH: A S.T.E.M. APPROACH

Session:   I Only

Grade:       2nd– 6th Grade

Cost:          $200.00

Creative Creative designs for children with active minds. We will use a variety of open-ended, reusable, and recyclable items to construct unique structures, vehicles, inventions, and anything else that children can envision. This type of ‘out of the box’ thinking encourages brain development in innovative ways. Albert Einstein once said, “Creativity is intelligence having fun.” Campers will design and build a vehicle with wheels made from loose parts, create a bridge that meets specific length and width requirements while supporting a designated weight, and collaborate on a community project. Through teamwork, they will identify what their community needs to thrive. Our campers will build geometric shapes that can withstand being dropped from a certain height and craft musical instruments that produce sound. Joy Funk, a veteran award-winning teacher from SUSD, will inspire your children to use wood, tiles, plastic, cardboard, and other materials sourced from a local non-profit that provides art and construction supplies, fueling their creative ingenuity at this camp to bring their dreams to life. Donations of recycled materials are always appreciated.
